Indie-folk duo nudista confront frustration and alienation with new cut ‘inasmuch’ out 15th February via Sad Club Records. Written in the middle of the pandemic, ‘inasmuch’ tackles human pride and fervour by asking us to challenge our beliefs and to be open to change. Drawing from the sonic soundscapes of Yo La Tengo, Alvvays and Mazzy Star, nudista welcome you into their dreamlike ether through an innocent and soothing reality. ‘inasmuch’ follows previous single ‘confess’ released last year, which will join together alongside two new songs to form their debut EP Halfway Here arriving 31st March.
Born out of lead singer Pilar’s frustration of being forced into a certain belief system, ‘inasmuch’ illustrates the disheartenment of seeing people’s unwillingness to change or empathise with the other side of the picture. ‘inasmuch’ refers to the process of unlearning as much as it highlights the importance of unconditional compassion. Centering around the importance of an ever changing attitude, the notion of altering your behaviour with the change that you see happening is the fundamental. “I’d like for people to listen to it and realise they can have their own opinions and they can question anything that 's been imposed on them.”
